If I were on American Idol…

If I were on American Idol…
I would have sung “My Melancholy Blues”

Another party’s over
And I’m left cold sober
My baby left me for somebody new

I don’t wanna talk about it
Want to forget about it
Wanna be intoxicated with that special brew

So come and get me
Let me
Get in that sinking feeling
That says my heart is on an all time low – So
Don’t expect me
To behave perfectly
And wear that sunny smile
My guess is I’m in for a cloudy and overcast
Don’t try and stop me
Because I’m heading for that stormy weather soon

I’m causing a mild
With this new occupation
I’m permanently glued
To this extraordinary mood so now move over
Let me take over
With my melancholy blues

I’m causing a mild sensation
With this new occupation
I’m in the news
I’m just getting used to my new exposure
So come into my enclosure
And meet my
Melancholy blues

And I’m sure it would have earned the most votes…

(I’m not watching this season)

I’m very eager and anxious about the impending birth of this baby!!! When will it happen? I hope soon, but not today– we have some stuff to do!

WHYY is having a fund drive. I hate fund drives. My exp. with public radio makes me not want to give them any money at all! And didn’t Mrs. Kroc give them enough? So, I switched over to WRTI. They too are having a fund drive! So I switched to WXPN. Ugh. I haven’t listened to “new” music in a while, and I sometimes feel like maybe I’m missing something… so, they played a Death Cab for Cutie song and let me tell you, it was freaking BORING. Next they played Jefferson Airplane. And then they played Randy Newman– that was the final straw. There’s no more Howard Stern to listen to. And every other station had ads ads ads. So I went back to WHYY.

I sorta watched the Super Bowl the other night. I hear the ads are supposed to be good, but I am not a fan of ads normally. Yeah, sometimes one might make me laugh, but generally I tune them out. I did watch some, and was disgusted. Kermit doing an ad for a Ford Hybrid SUV! Yeah, that’s really green Kermie. The only ad I enjoy on TV is the one where every food item changes into a can of Hormel Chili with Beans. Because everything is better with Hormel Chili with beans. Man, that’s a great commercial.

There’s gotta be somebody other than me

I don’t talk about TeeVee much. I don’t normally catch the latest shows. If I’m not listening to the radio, I will waste time on local news, sitcoms in syndication, creepy crime shows, or American Idol. And when I wasn’t working much, I was watching some crappy daytime television.
Well, Joe brought home Disc 1 of Lost about 2 weeks ago. So we watched 4 episodes and decided we had to watch more. We quit Netflix to save money, so we had to go rent the next 2 Discs for $4.00 each (plus tax). Then we realized there were 6 discs. We rented them all, and even had to pay some stupid late fees from when there was a blizzard in 2003, so we paid way more than a month of Netflix just for this one dumb show…
Plus, there were 5 episodes we hadn’t seen from this season.
Well, we finished all of Season 1 last night, and watched the repeat episode that aired last week, and Joe found 2 other Season 2 episodes online. And then we watched it tonight. We still have 2 other episodes to watch at some point, but we are basically caught up.
Now what? I don’t care that much about these characters! It’s just a freaking TV show. How can I invest so much time in it? Plus, our childbirth classes start next Wednesday, so we’ll be rushing home for a television show? And, what about in January when Idol starts? They air at the same time, don’t they? And then in February? What if I go into labor while Lost is on? This is why it is no good to get addicted to a freaking television show. Or, maybe it is a reason to get TiVo…
