Sylvia’s Queen of Soul Food Specially Seasoned Black-Eyed Peas, circa 2005

Sylvia makes good canned greens and peas. (“They’re Real Good!) I don’t know why we didn’t eat this, but as it sat in the cabinet, getting older and older, I figured it wasn’t good anymore. I donated it to Lilia’s play kitchen, where it could fall and land on our toes. I should really open it, dump out the peas and recycle the can.

Five pairs of prescription eyeglasses, c. 1990s-2000s

Why save these? I should have donated them to… who is it? The Lions Club? But the frames made of plastic don’t look so good– they have deteriorated. What do I do with them now? Keep ‘em in my dresser 15 more years?

Peter Max Wrangler shorts, circa 1970s. Size 7/8

I don’t know whose shorts these were– maybe my mom or my sister? I haven’t worn a size 7/8 since… well, let’s see… I don’t know if I ever wore that size. And they are probably more like a 5/6 since sizes have increased over the years. I read in a newspaper sometime in the 90s that they might be worth something. This blog shows an unworn pair with tags that sold for $73 on eBay. But how much could these worn shorts be worth? They are even dirty– what is that– mud stains? Who knows. I don’t remember them being dirty when I decided to save them, and they’ve only been in my dresser.

Yellow Stanley hairbrush, 1970s

I’ve had this hairbrush forever. I don’t use it for myself or Lilia. I think a Stanley brush had to be purchased from a door-to-door salesman… The Fuller Brush Man, I suppose.

Standing room only tickets for June 19, 2009 Phillies game.

Nothing particularly special about this game. Joe, Lilia and I met my friend Meera and two of her friends at the game. They lost against the Orioles. It was Sound of Philadelphia night, and the Soul Survivors sang “Expressway to your heart”. I don’t have the tickets in a scrapbook. They are just hanging out in my dresser.
